How to Remove Cerber Ransomware Virus and Restore the Files?

May 11, 2019Simeon Georgiev

You must already be aware of what ransomware is and how it’s literally disrupting a number of organizations, companies, and businesses that are operating on the internet. The Internet sure is a great place for us individuals to get some real-time information, to get entertained and to start a business too. On the other hand, there are these evil people out there waiting to hunt on the money of innocent people using different techniques like ransomware attacks.

Ransomware isn’t a new term. In fact, it’s been here for a long time now, but this year in 2019, there’s a massive increase in ransomware attacks that have been reported especially in the US. The point to tell you all this is that something needs to be done about this as soon as possible or at least everyone must be educated on what to do when their PC gets infected with a ransomware variant.

Cerber Ransomware and The Destruction It’s Causing

The malware researchers have recently identified another ransomware variant that’s known as Cerber. This ransomware is way more dangerous than the other ones out there and on top of everything, it’s distributed by updated RIG-V exploit kit which is known as a premium exploit kit that comes with a higher rate of infection.

What Cerber 5.0 does is that it uses a very strong cipher to encrypt all your files and then you see all those ransom notes and instructions on your PC to pay the attacker via Bitcoin or some other cryptocurrency. Once you do that, you can then have your decryption key and then you can gain the access back to your PC.

The Solution

You can get rid of the Cerber ransomware through the system restore technique. It’s an easy to follow technique, you just need to be more active. What you need to do in this case is that you need to start your computer in Safe Mode using the command prompt. For this, you need to press the F8 button continuously until your computer starts up again. Once your PC starts, you will then see advanced boot options right on your screen and that’s where you need to select the Safe Mode with the help of command prompt. The command prompt will then open and there you need to enter the “cd restore” text. Now follow the instructions that lead you to system restore and once you do that, you will be able to get access to your PC without any control of the Cerber ransomware.

Overall Verdict

This is the whole process that you need to follow to get rid of this ransomware. You can even find the decryption key on the internet just with a little extensive research. In the end, we’d say that no matter what it is, just don’t pay any ransom because you can get rid of this problem without paying a single penny easily.
