Anyone can get infected due to accidental click on a link or falling for any promotional offer. It is there waiting to be taken in so that it can start the slow process of encryption. It is a possibility that your website is malware free, but as soon as a user clicks on a promotional offer or a web link that leads to another, it might get infected by ransomware.
This is going to look bad on your part as it was your website and was under your surveillance. Although you might have installed the most sophisticated and reliable software to protect your website, it is not to be mistaken that it can bypass your system and infect your visitor’s computer system without a warning.
Online shopping or just checking some flight information, booking a doctor’s appointment or installing software for the system or an app update. Anything can infect your system with a ransomware virus. These files are hidden and do not show unless the sender triggers them and they start data encryption.
Many people have reported having gotten an email from a reliable source asking to update antivirus or software because the computer system was in danger. As soon as they clicked on the link, they realized that the system was not responding and they had been a victim. Most of them ended up paying a ransom.
Initially, a ransomware attack may look like an official warning by Microsoft or Google or the system. But it is a malware problem. The worst of the nightmares has begun as the customer will only realize it has been infected once its system shuts down or becomes unresponsive.
Most likely, the client will have a bad image of your website and might warn others not to open your website. The issue is that your website is not ransomware affected, it is the additional link that has attached itself to your page. This plugin or app most likely contains malicious software that can infect your website and your customer’s systems too.
If you’re a frequent online shopper, you might want to check and update your computer system and install better software to protect your computer. Installing a firewall will also give you some protection.
