According to an official from the West Nipissing Police, the victim mended his ways and improved his cybersecurity defense. For this purpose, he bought an antivirus solution, which could help in effective ransomware removal.
Law enforcement agencies are strictly cautioning the public to avoid sharing their personal or sensitive information with any unreliable individual on computers and telephones.
A resident from Holditch Street has received a unique computer notification. The notification states that the victim’s computer has been corrupted by a malware.
What happened was that someone contacted the individual and pretended to be from a company that was on the brink of bankruptcy. The victim was offered a potential reimbursement. The client shared his details and several deposits made their way into his account. However, the client had to prepare for a major shock as those funds were nowhere to be found after some time. What was worse was that the client also lost his own money!
The police department has also been contacted by a business that revealed the breach of its systems by a ransomware campaign. The ransomware demanded money in exchange for ransomware removal. After a deliberate time period of decision-making, it was decided that the ransom will not be paid. Efforts were done for ransomware removal and recovery, and after some time, the organization succeeded in its endeavors.
The West Nipissing Police discourages public from viewing or downloading contents from emails which may appear to be coming from unfamiliar parties because these emails are among the leading attack vectors for cybercriminals.
